New Hope Windward launched its new website in July 2007, transforming what was once a one-dimensional and static site into a dynamic, interactive portal featuring audio and video messages, inspiration articles, online devotions, an extensive photo gallery and so much more! On its one year anniversary, the site enjoys a growing number of visitors, including some who have clicked their way onto http://www.NewHopeWindward.org from as far away as the United Kingdom and India! Since the beginning of the year, the site registered nearly 5,000 visits from 28 countries.
According to Senior Pastor Dave Barr, the site continues to be refined and tweaked to provide the best possible online experience. “The newest feature of the site includes a link to Pandora Radio which plays online Christian Music. What’s really cool about Pandora is that after you type in a couple of your favorite songs or groups, it will then automatically select and play the type of music you enjoy. This is just one of the many great reasons to visit our site often.”
The website ministry is led by New Hope Windward member Sharon Zauner who works alongside a dozen dedicated volunteers to keep the site fresh and updated. “We have a very passionate and spirited group of individuals serving in this dynamic ministry,” said Sharon. “We have members from all walks of life on the team, including those who are technical in nature, those with a passion for writing and editing, and still others who help to coordinate the many other moving parts of the website. It takes a lot of coordination for sure! Web experience is not required.”
Sharon points out that the team meets only about once a month and that most volunteer hours are contributed by members from the comfort of their own homes via their computers, of course. The group stays in close contact via weekly emails. “We are currently in need of more writers and editors to produce stories like this one. We also need assistance researching other Christian websites for relevant articles to post on our site,” said Sharon.
