“Don’t tell me what to do!” It’s the rebellious cry of our freethinking, me-driven society. From soccer moms to CEOs, we all have had some level of authority issues. But our defiance breeds discontent and limits God’s fullest blessings on our lives. In this series, we learn what God says about authority, how to get under it so God’s fullest blessings can flow and we can shed our own authority issues. We will likely look at the blessings of living under God’s authority. We will talk about where authority issues form and how they affect our lives, God’s blessings, and God’s discipline when disobeyed.
NEW SERIES: AUTHORITY ISSUES
JUNE 13 – JULY 4, 2010
June 13 PASTOR ED YOUNG Part 1: UNDERSTANDING AUTHORITY
We run away from authority because we don’t like other people having power over us - we don’t like to be dominated. Authority is not about domination, but protection. And only by living under authority can we learn to lead others effectively and discover God’s best for our lives. To gain the most out of life, we need to get under God’s umbrella of protection and authority. But what exactly is that umbrella and how do we position ourselves under it? In this message, we will take a journey to discover how God’s authority is literally spelled out in his love letter to us, the Bible, and what our response to that letter should be.
June 20 (Father’s Day) Pastor Dave Part 2: AUTHORITY IN THE HOME
We all want to call our own shots and run the show. As a result, it’s often a struggle to put ourselves under the authority of others. Especially in the home. But how we respond to authority reveals a lot about who we are and who we will become. The authority figures in our lives are there to mold and shape us into the people God has called us to be. It’s one of the most explosive and misunderstood concepts in the entire Bible-submission. But submission in the marriage is really just half of the equation. In this message we learn that in order for authority to work in the marriage then both the husband and the wife must model their roles after Christ’s submission to the Father and his sacrifice for his bride-the church.
June 27 Pastor Dave Part 3 : Working With Authority In Society and Church
In this message, we will look at authority in the workplace. Bad bosses, inexperienced supervisors, and unreasonable leadership in the job place is a huge frustration for most. How do I get under the authority God has placed me under in the workplace. In this message, we will look at how God uses the Sauls in our lives to train us for his plan for our lives.
July 4th Pastor Ed Young - Part 4 - Get Under It
We all want to call our own shots and run the show. As a result, it’s often a struggle to put ourselves under the authority of others. But how we respond to authority reveals a lot about who we are and who we will become. In “Get Under It,” Ed Young helps us see how the authority figures in our lives are there to mold and shape us into the people God has called us to be.
