Each week, hundreds of servants give generously of their time through the myriad of ministries that are New Hope Windward (NHW). Whether it’s setting up the portable church during the wee hours on Sunday mornings, providing a meal for members to enjoy after service, conducting a community outreach program, managing the content on this very website, or warmly greeting members as they arrive at service, each volunteer gives real meaning to the expression Doing Church as a Team.
With this in mind, Arlene Sumpter delivered a message titled “Finding Your Life Purpose,” on Sunday, January 24, 2010. Proclaiming that God doesn’t call the enabled, He enables the called, Arlene reminded NHW members that God desires to use every one of us to do something great for Him. When searching for our life purpose, Arlene further explained that we must ask God for Supernatural ability, confidence and vision. (click here to view Finding Your Life Purpose video).
The home-run sermon was followed by New Hope Windward’s 2010 Ministry Fair when current servants provided information about opportunities to serve God and others at and through the church. By the end of the morning, 134 individuals signed up for dozens of church ministries - getting one step closer to finding their life purpose!
A big mahalo goes out to fair organizers Kahale Balai and Tammy Turcious, all the team leaders and volunteers who manned tables at the fair and the 134 obedient members of the church who signed up to make a difference.
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:17 (NIV)
